Reflections of Webinar - Friday- August 27,2010

Maybe I'm not understanding the purpose of the Webinars. They have been very frustrating for me. I thought they were to be a time to discuss the assignments and what questions we have. When we are receiving several versions of the syllabus, assignments and verbal instructions on the calls that may or may not conflict with what we have received, it is vexing. We spend half the time trying to get the audio to work, there is not an agenda or plan evident in the structure of the call. Ya'll have any questions?

Reflection of Posting video to YouTube: Sunday August 29, 2010

Posting the video from PhotoStory3 to YouTube was a little challenging but not impossible thanks to great team members! I can see this being a tool I will use in future lessons with my students.

Reflection of Webinar February 26, 2011
The previous difficulties with camera and sound did not appear to be such an issue during this webinar. It seemed to be a manageable sized group and didn't overload the network. We discussed the assignment for the first week. I'm still uncomfortable with a meeting without an agenda. It seems we all just chat. I'm not sure when we get an answer. Is it lost in the chat? (which moves continually during the call) Will it be verbally answered? Will I miss it because the sound went out or the chat screen moved?

The Ed Tech students from my cohort and section still have an issue with purchasing the TK20. Since we only have class 9 weeks, it seems an unreasonable expense. The wikis, blogspots and google doc sites that we have created during these past 15 months could be used. Just our opinion but this has not been addressed for our cohort. The whole internship class has us worried.

Reflection = Week 5 Part 3
A group of five Education Professionals formed a group as required for EDLDC 5364 – Teaching with Technology. We created a google team planning document to combine our thoughts and ideas.

We created lessons using Universal Design for Learning.

Student Lesson: My student assignment is to write about a personal connection with the protagonist in the book that was read. The following bookbuilder walks the student through the process of writing and creating a short video using IMovie. http://bookbuilder.cast.org/view.php?op=view&book=42197&page=1

As we design technology-enhanced lesson activities to meet the needs of diverse learners, we must keep the following questions in mind:

What will students learn?
Which strategies will provide evidence of student learning?
Which strategies will help students acquire and integrate learning?
Which strategies will help students practice, review, and apply learning?

Which strategies will provide evidence of student learning?

  • Through our formative assessments as well as our end of lesson assessments--provide timely feedback
  • Provide rubrics

Which strategies will help students acquire and integrate learning?

  • Questions
  • Summarizing and note-taking
  • Cooperative learning on Google docs and wikis
  • Collaboration in the creation of script for short video

Which strategies will help students practice, review, and apply learning?
  • Making sure to make sure the units all tie in together and there is a smooth transition for student learning.
  • Homework
  • Finding similarities and differences with vocabulary and theme

BLOG: Book builder turned out to be quite a simple too and the process was easy. Given the complexity of this week's assignment we were overwhelmed and the simple became difficult.
